How to Make Front/Back Copies on an HP Color Laserjet 2820

By Joshua Duvauchelle

  • Overview

Printing on both the front and back of a page saves space and paper, and is especially helpful when printing large documents. Printers such as the HP Color Laserjet 2820 have a built-in software function that automates the process of making front/back copies. Prior to machines like the HP 2820, individuals printing on the front and back of a page had to print on one side and then flip the page over to send it through the printer a second time.
    • Step 1

Turn on printer. Check that printer ink levels are sufficient to print your project.
    • Step 2

Open the document that you would like to print.

    • Step 3

Click "File" in the menu bar and select "Print" at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
    • Step 4

From the Printer drop-down menu, select the HP Color Laserjet 2820.
    • Step 5

Click on the "Option" menu, listed under "Presets" in the window that pops up.
    • Step 6

      Select "Layout."
    • Step 7

Find the "Two-Sided" listing displayed under the "Border" options. There should be three selectable buttons running under the right-hand corner of the Two-Sided listing.
    • Step 8

Click "Long-Edged Binding" to turn on double-sided printing. The default selection is "Off."
    • Step 9

Click "Print" in the bottom, right-hand corner of the window. The document will now print on both the front and back of your printer paper.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Tip: You may need to check your document's formatting to ensure proper double-sided printing. Documents with an even number of pages translate best in front/back printing.
