How to Make a Rubber Band Bracelet

By Alicia Bodine

  • Overview

Rubber band bracelets as well as silicone bracelets are a versatile way to accessorize an outfit. This is because you can individualize them and give them your own personal touch. Rubber band bracelets are a lot of fun to create at home, especially if you like to do arts and crafts. You can even gather a bunch of friends together and have a few snacks and soft drinks as you create your rubber band bracelets.

    • Step 1

Find a thick rubber band that will fit comfortably on your wrist. This rubber band can be any color that you want. It is the base of the bracelet and you are going to add to it.
    • Step 2

Choose some colored permanent markers to write your name or any message you want on the top of the rubber band. You could also choose to just color designs on to the rubber band.

    • Step 3

Take a small rubber band and cut it. Make a knot at one end. Make sure you leave a little bit of rubber band after the knot to tie it to the big rubber band.
    • Step 4

String some beads on to the small rubber band and then knot at the other end. You can use regular beads with colors on them or you can use letter beads to spell out your name.
    • Step 5

Tie the small rubber band to the top of your large one. You can do this by taking the slack at the end of one knot and tying it to the large rubber band. Then tie the slack at the other end of the small rubber band (the slack is the excess rubber string that comes after the knot) to the large rubber band.
    • Step 6

Take some super glue and use it to apply some jewels to the big rubber band. These jewels are sold at craft stores. They have a flat backing, which is where you want to apply the glue. Wait for the glue to dry before wearing the bracelet.
