You've got diving and snorkeling, of course. There is lots of hiking because of the many archeological sites. One of the most popular excursions is to go to the underground rivers coming from the caves. It is just a great place to go for a day and hang out. Usually to go to those places, you have to have a guide who takes you back through the jungle to get to them. Any of your major vendors like Fun Jet, will have tours. I use a company called Lomas Travel and they can give you any kind of an excursion that you want at any place. Coba has about an hour long trek to get back into one of the oldest pyramids ruins. But it's for people who want to ride a bike and walk so that would be a real walking tour but not like your mountain destinations. People go to the Mayan Riviera for the ocean, but there are biking trails and jungle tours. Go through Lomas travel and their website is www.lomas-travel.com. They have ATVs, deep sea fishing, and jungle safaris.
