Do not get too upset. Mildew is okay. Mildew is actually not that hard to deal with. If you have carpet pad under it and the pad is soaked, of course the pad has to go. However, a lot of nylon carpet will take a 50-50 mixture of bleach water. If your basement has flooded and you have carpet pad under it, you can pull the pad up, dry it out, and spray the back of the carpet with bleach water. Bleach water will kill the mildew. There are also other products out there commercially. These can be available through distributors and stores. They will kill mildew. Mildew has become a big issue in people's health in the last few years. Now, there is a lot more known about mildew than there was 10 years ago.
