What is monogram siding? Monogram siding is CertainTeed's most popular siding product because of its array of colors and "contractor-friendly" nature. Monogram siding is CertainTeed's premier vinyl siding...
Monogram siding is CertainTeed's premier vinyl siding brand. The company, CertainTeed, actually has three brands of vinyl siding to choose from: CertainTeed brand, Wolverine brand, and Ashland-Davis brand. Monogram siding was developed 12 years ago and is by far the most popular siding in the United States.
"Monogram siding is ranked number one by Consumer Reports and is made to compliment most architectural styles," says Walt Hoyt who is the director of marketing and communications for Certain Teed Siding Products. CertainTeed is the number one manufacturer of building materials from a brand awareness and usage standpoint.
Monogram siding has a self-aligning, post-formed positive lock called Certilock, which is very easy to install.
"A contractor can take a 12.5 foot long piece, lock it into place beginning with the starter strips, and then start locking it into place while paneling the whole wall," says Hoyt.
Monogram siding is very "contractor friendly", comes in a broad array of colors, and trims easily. Because of these qualities, it is one of the most popular siding lines. Monogram siding is considered premium siding, so it is a higher priced siding compared to regular vinyl siding.
"Monogram's industry leading color palette and comprehensive system of value-added features and benefits create a truly extraordinary siding," says Hoyt.
Monogram siding offers the widest selection of colors in the industry with 22 solid colors; eight wood-tone blends, and 30 coordinating trim colors. According to Pellerinsiding.com, the product has been wind tested at up to 180 MPH, so the product is not easily damaged. Monogram siding is maintenance free, the panels do not need to be painted, and does not easily damage from rain, snow, and hail. It is cost effective because it lasts a long time and needs very little attention when installed. Also, monogram siding is warranted, and lasts a lifetime.
Another product that CertainTeed offers and is frequently used in conjunction with monogram siding is cedar impressions. Cedar impressions offer a homeowner the "shake" look, which means the bottom edge is trimmed straight.
"CertainTeed pioneered this product 10 or 11 years ago and has a seven-inch shake and a 'perfection' shake," says Hoyt. Another product CertainTeed pioneered is the half round product, which is the fish-scale look that is popular on Victorian homes. Recently, CertianTeed invented a five-inch panel, which is particularly popular in coastal areas in the New England area. If people want a more rustic look, such as a hand split look, CertainTeed offers a 9-inch exposure, but it has randomness to the bottom edge, which makes it look more rustic and more like a hand split shake.
CertainTeed has a wide variety of sidings to choose from, which are used in conjunction with monogram siding if the homeowner or contractor wants to accent a gable.
"A lot of homeowners like the shake look, so they use it on the whole house. The reason they prefer this regular cedar shake is because it is maintenance free," says Hoyt. Overall, monogram siding offers homeowners a wider variety of choices in style and appearance, is easy to install, and provides long-lasting durability.
