In our market, the biggest thing that people don't realize is how much property taxes are. A lot of times they buy a brand new home and get in a payment but in the next six months, their payment goes up because the property taxes kick in. A lot of people don't realize the jump from their property tax had been going to 100% because when they bought it, it may be evaluated at 30%. I think even things like the cost of draperies, blinds and any of the things that have to go into a new home. They don't evaluate and I don't think they always realize just the cost of just maintaining the house. There are little things like a leak on a water faucet or the dishwasher may quit working. If it was an apartment, the maintenance department comes in and takes care of it for you, whereas once you own the house, it is your responsibility.
