As with anything, you can pay just about any amount for a set of cutlery. I've seen companies who use ceramic or titanium blades sell a single chef's knife for $400. We've found that high carbon stainless steel blades stay sharp for years and are flexible, too. High quality cutlery is an investment that you should only have to make once. For our high carbon stainless sets, you could expect to pay around $900 for an 18 piece set in a storage block. It's an investment, but you won't ever have to buy knives again. You can forget about those knives you got during your freshman year of college.
