The National Fire Prevention Association is an international non-profit organization that creates fires codes and regulations concerning fire safety. It was created in 1896. The NFPA provides important information about education and programs all around the nation and world. Jeremy Robshaw, Public Education Officer for St. John's County Fire Rescue, tells us about some of its duties.

"Their mission is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating scientifically-based consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education," Robshaw says.

According to the NFPA website, there are more than 79,000 individuals from around the world and more than 80 national trade and professional organizations that make up the organization. Many of these public servants are volunteers.

When it comes to fire education, the NFPA is the leading source of public safety. It has 300 codes and standards that influence every building, process, service, design, and installation in the United States, as well as many of those used in other countries.

The rules and codes the NFPA has created have helped saved thousands of lives. They cover all areas of the home, businesses, and any other properties inhabited by people. Logging onto its website, you will find safety tips for candle burning, heaters, flammable chemicals, alarms, and much more. Each area discussed has an intricate plan for promoting fire safety no matter where you are.

NFPA's mission today is driven by implementing new technology. Its National Fire Codes are developed by technical committees staffed by over 5,000 volunteers, and are used and enforced throughout the world. The organization has more than 65,000 members from around the globe, all working together to fulfill the Association's mission.

It has created some important documents in the past 110 years of its existence. Important documents have been created by trial and error. One of these is NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems and NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. These new implementations have strengthened the fire safety standards everywhere.

The National Fire Protection Association is a great tool to learn about annual fire safety inspections. It also can help families develop fire evacuation plans in the home. If you have any concerns about the safety in your home, you can always go to the NFPA website to answer any questions. It covers all topics, and it can help answer any questions you are asking.

Robshaw says the NFPA is one of the most important organizations that exists in the world. He encourages that everyone use their applications and information to improve fire safety conditions. Its an important organization that ensures safety for all.
