Natural Ways to Enhance Female Libido

By Wendy Melton

  • Overview

Women have been looking for ways to enhance sexual pleasure for centuries. As women age and their natural hormone diminish, so does their sex drive. Read on to find out about natural remedies to keep a woman's libido from slipping into the past.
    • Step 1

Get some herbs. For women, damiana, ginseng and fo-ti are excellent examples. They have few side effects and can be taken as needed to improve sex drive. However, it is always wise to consult a physician or a qualified natural health practitioner before taking any supplement. Most herbs come in capsules, while others can be found in liquid form. Ginseng can be added to tea and other beverages if you don't like taking tablets.
    • Step 2

Get a massage. Therapeutic massage improves circulation, tones muscles and increases hormone production. It is relaxing and will give you an overall feeling of well-being. Feeling good about yourself and feeling good in general is an important part in how physically attractive you feel.

    • Step 3

Exercise on a regular basis. Exercise releases endorphins, which cause the body to feel rejuvenated, which in turn releases hormones that will raise the sex drive. Keeping active helps the body maintain balance and rhythm. The more you exercise, the more endorphins are released and the better you feel. Once you establish the cycle, it will begin to work on its own, providing you keep with the routine and exercise at least a couple of times a week.
    • Step 4

Eat right. Proper daily nutrition is necessary not only for sexual function, but for all bodily functions. Adding soy products to the diet is proven to benefit women in many ways. It's a natural form of protein and is a great source for plant hormones that are related to estrogen and progesterone. Adequate amounts of vitamin C are also needed to ensure optimum sexual function.
