Navigating Texas airports

Texas has two of the busiest airports in the world. Houston's George

Bush Intercontinental and Dallas/Fort Worth's DFW International are

also the largest in Texas. There are 13 major airports and 100's of

smaller one sprinkled through out the "Lonestar" state. Listed here

are the major and a few major/minor ones with the airport code in

parenthesis.

1. Amarillo Rick Husband International (AMA):

10801 Airport Blvd. Amarillo, TX. It's about 7 miles east of downtown

Amarillo and 2 miles North of East I-40. This airport 's airlines are

American Eagle, Continental Express, Atlantic Southeast Airlines,

Great Lakes Aviation and Southwest Airlines. Just a bit of trivia.. this

airport was renamed the Amarillo Rick Husband International after the

space shuttle crash over East Texas in 2003, where as it was

formally known as just Amarillo International.

2. Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS):

3600 Presidential Blvd. Austin, TX. It is southeast of downtown

between Hwy 183 and Bastrop Hwy. The airlines supported here are

America West, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, Frontier

Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines

3. Corpus Christi International (CRP):

1000 International Dr. Corpus Christi, TX. It is located 8 miles west

of downtown off of Hwy. 44. Airlines supported here are American

Eagle, Continental Express/Airlines, Delta Connection, and

Southwest Airlines.

4. Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW):

3200 East Airfield Dr. DFW Airport, TX. This airport is so large it is

designated as a city of it's own. It is located between Arlington and

Grapevine TX. There are 21 different airlines coming and going from

DFW airport as it is on of the largest in the nation. AeroMexico, Air

Canada, AirTran Airways, American Airlines, American Eagle, ATA,

British Airways, Champion Air, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines,

Sun Country, U S Airways, United Airlines, TACA, Northwest Airlines,

Midwest Airlines, Mesa Airlines, Lufthansa, Korean Air, and Frontier

Airlines all fly out of here. In 2005 a new terminal will be opening

here and may be adding a few more airlines.

5. Dallas Love Field (DAL):

8008 Cedar Springs Rd. Dallas, TX. Located Northwest of downtown

it's on the corner of Cedar Springs Rd. and Mockingbird Lane.

Airlines supported here are Continental Airlines, Express Jet, and

Southwest Airlines.

6. El Paso International (ELP):

6701 Convair Rd. El Paso, TX. Located 5 miles east of downtown.

Airlines supported by El Paso's airport are American Airlines, America

West, AeroLitoral, Continental Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Delta

Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.

7. Harlingen-Rio Grande Valley International (HRL):

3002 Heritage Way Harlingen, TX. This airport is located near

Brownsville, which is near the Texas/Mexico border. Airlines

supported by this airport are Continental Express, Southwest Airlines

and Sun Country Airlines. This airport supports South Padre and all

the Rio Grande Valley area.

8. Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH):

2800 North Terminal Road Houston, TX. It is located 23 miles north

of downtown Houston, northeast of Aldine and west of Humble.

AeroMexico, Air Canada, Air France, Air Jamaica, American Trans

Air, America West, American Airlines, American Connection, Atlantic

Southeast Airlines, Aviacsa, British Airways, Cayman Airways, China

Airlines, Comair, Continental Airlines, Continental Express, Delta Air

Lines, Frontier Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa,

Northwest Airlines, Pakistan Airlines, SkyWest, Southwest Airlines,

TACA, United Airlines and US Airways all fly out of Houston's airport.

9. Houston William P. Hobby (HOU):

7800 Airport Boulevard Houston, TX. Located south of loop 610 and

west of I-45. Airlines that fly out of here are American Airlines,

American Eagle, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Continental Airlines,

Continental Express, Delta Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. This

airport only flies within the United States any international flights go

out of nearby Houston's George Bush airport.

10. Laredo International (LRD):

5210 bob Bullock Loop Laredo, TX. Located northeast of downtown

and near Hwy. 59. Airlines supported here are Continental Airlines,

American Eagle and Azteca Airlines.

11. Lubbock International (LBB):

5401 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. Lubbock, TX. Located off of Hwy.

87 and northeast of Texas Tech University. Only three airlines

operate out of this airport. American Eagle, Continental Express and

Southwest Airlines.

12. Midland International (MAF):

9506 La Force Blvd. Midland, TX. Located east of Odessa off of I-

20 and west of Midland. Again, there are only three airlines

supported here. They are American Eagle, Continental Express and

Southwest Airlines.

13. San Antonio International (SAT):

9800 Airport Blvd. San Antonio, TX. This airport is located north of

downtown, adjacent to loop 410 and US 281. The airlines supported

at this airport are AeroLitoral, Aeromar, America West, American

Airlines, ASA, Continental Airlines, Comair, Delta, Mexicana, Midwest

Express, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.

Most of these airports have many amenities such as car rentals, taxi

service and more. Some of them even have a service where they

will fly you into a smaller airport depending where.
