Because Albany has a lot of colleges there is quite a bit of nightlife. The Pepsi Arena is very popular for concerts and for sporting events. River Rats is the ice hockey team and we have the Arena football team. We also have regional basketball tournaments.
On the other side of Pearl Street is the Palace Theater, which was built in the 1930's. It was totally restored last year. That is extremely popular and we have everything from concerts to films there. We also have Capital Repertory Theater, or Cap Rep. Along Pearl Street is a variety of restaurants, clubs, and bars. During the summer, we have Live At 5 which is concerts down on the riverfront. Also we have a huge first night celebration in downtown Albany.
