Travel guide for Columbus, Ohio, focusing on nightlife entertainment.
Columbus, Ohio has many options for those seeking entertainment after the sun goes down. Nightlife in the city ranges from trendy bars to authentic pubs. No matter what your late-night style, Columbus absolutely has something to fit your needs!
If you want a little entertainment at night, check out The Shadowbox Cabaret. With their three locations around Columbus, you'll find one close at hand no matter where you are. You can see theater, singing, dancing, comedy, and generally have a good time when you attend one of their shows. The cabaret shows changes frequently so it's best to call and ask what they're showing. You can make a complete night out of it, as the actors serve food and drinks before the show and during intermission.
Columbus is also fortunate enough to have its own comedy club. At the Funny Bone, you can see many prominent comedians in a small club atmosphere. Superstars such as Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen Degeneres, and Chris Rock have all graced the Funny Bone stage. Check out their schedule, you never know who's in town.
If you want to check out a few bars in a single night, then head to Easton Town Center. An outdoor mall and pavilion, Easton has a number of different bars all located close together so you can bar-hop until 2 a.m. if you want. Popular choices include Adobe Gila's (a great bar that also has live music) or Bar Louie, an upscale martini bar. If you're into more of a playful mood, then GameWorks is the place for you. Here you will find a state-of-the-art adult arcade with games to amuse the young and young-at-heart. There is also a full service bar and restaurant on site so you won't have to stray if you get hungry while playing with your friends.
If you want to dance while you're in town than head to Long Street Entertainment. This downtown hotspot seems more like a mini-mall of different clubs all under one unique roof. Inside you will find three clubs with different types of music (world, international, and top 40), a cocktail lounge and live music venue.
If you fancy a pint of ale while in Columbus, you're covered. The owners of the Brazenhead Pub spent over 1 million dollars to re-create an authentic emerald isle pub. Claddagh Irish Pub is another popular choice with its signature copper bar. Claddagh's has one of the city's greatest selections of hard to find scotches and whiskeys (Irish, of course).
If you're an OSU fan, then the Buckeye Hall of Fame and Café is where you want to be. This place has everything for the ultimate fan: there's a walk-of-fame museum, big screen TV's, and enough scarlet and gray to make your head spin. In case you get tired of cheering for central Ohio's favorite team, they also have numerous billiards tables and a high-tech arcade to occupy your time.
In case partying all night has left you hungry then your final stop of the night should be The Blue Danube. This perennial late-night favorite has long been a top choice amongst night owls, as it opened its doors in the 40's. The kitchen stays open until 2 A.M., and offers much more tempting palate-teasers than other fast food options. Hamburgers and fries are standard fare, but the Dube (as its affectionately nicknamed) also features a number of tasty Greek options proving it's more than just your average late night diner.
