In Florence, chic bars and svelte clubs with wine, music and dance keep you enthralled in the midst of a young and fun loving people.

International students, who come to study the history of art, combine with adventurous locals to make a tantalizing mix for the night life of Florence. The wine is affordable and the pubs stay open well after midnight, so one feels encouraged to relax. The river seems to be a kind of border, with more informality on the South side. The Italian panache for style and their natural sense of beauty is however omnipresent. You might feel out of place if you were less than smartly dressed, though no one would offer the least rebuke. Do buy the latest edition of a local entertainment tabloid, or read one on-line, for there is something special everyday, and this city in the land of fashion, gets bored and changes scene often.

Bars are good bets to start an evening and Le Volpi is a good place to get off the blocks, for it is a classic in terms of Italian heritage and the wine is simply outstanding. There are good cheeses and meats on offer as well. Rex is near the city center and easy on a foreign tongue to boot. It is a good place to just be wallpaper, or chat up a fellow customer as per your wont. You will experience Mediterranean sophistication in any case. Fiddler's Elbow is a piece of Ireland, complete with Guinness and satellite Television. Try it as a mixer or if you are from those parts or long for some conversation in English. The Sulamanca is a Spanish place where you can sample delicacies of that land. Move south of the river as the evening wears on and you long for student and younger company. Florence can be a delight for the most incorrigible pub crawler!

Clubs are the watering holes of choice as the evening wears on. Be Bop is the place to visit if Jazz and Rock are your scene. There is a Jazz Club as well. Do not miss the Eskimo for it has specials most nights, including some Italian music. The Yab is dedicated to Hip Hop music. Loonies offers rock and roll on week ends and Tenax has a dance floor and live concerts as well. Dolce Zucchero has plenty of dancing as well and is very popular. The Maracana has a very special atmosphere with a Latin American touch. Dance the Samba or Tango to your heart's content. There are other places as well to keep you contented, if you wish to spend a musical evening with a partner who loves to dance. The Jaragua is another place with a very Latin American atmosphere and has become enormously popular in a short time.



The people of Florence are friendly and the atmosphere lends itself to pure fun. You can make many new friends in the city and enjoy its youthful atmosphere. You will feel wonderfully relaxed as you retire for the night, though it could be a short one, after an evening in this historic and beautiful city.
