Your entertainment in Raleigh really depends on what exactly you are looking for and interested in. There are plenty of different options for all different tastes.
There are a variety of different types of restaurants in Raleigh. You will have your choice of all different ethnic foods, chain restaurants, and original restaurants.
Do you like comedy? There are plenty of cute comedy clubs in Raleigh. For example, there is Comedyworx, where there are two teams of four doing improve, on-the-spot comedy for you LIVE. The cost is reasonable, and you are basically guaranteed a night full of laughs. If you don't want to try that place, or you want to try more than one comedy club, there is always Charlie Goodnights. Again, live comedy for you that is reasonably priced, and will no doubt make you laugh harder than you have in months.
After the comedy club, maybe you would like to go out for a snack or some drinks. There are plenty of nice places in downtown Raleigh. There is always the staple Jillian's, where you can have good food, great drinks, play video games or/and pool, and then go dancing! If you want to try some place different, there are a bunch of cool restaurants in downtown Raleigh. The Red Room, a very elegant, moderately priced restaurant has very original drinks and martinis, and great food. Bogart's, another really original, elegant and beautiful restaurant, has original drinks as well, and some really interesting and delicious foods on their menu that you won't see on every other menu in town, which is always refreshing! They have some really good blueberry martinis, which are unlike any drink that I've ever had before. Even the décor and design of these restaurants is different, and you are guaranteed a spectacular night if you choose one of these downtown Raleigh restaurants.
A lot of people would like Skybox, a bar/restaurant in Raleigh that is attached to a Hilton hotel. This little "box" has great drinks and food as well. For more drinks and food, there is also Rumrunners. It all depends on if you want to stick with the staples, or try out new restaurants, clubs, bars, etc. when you are in the area!
