We do have trendy clubs, but more often than not what you will find are neighborhood places. There are lots of neighborhood bars where people just hangout and drink beer and Pinot Noir wine, which is grown in Oregon. A lot of the brew pubs are open to families until 10 p.m. It's a very European sort of feeling, you can go in and have a beer and a slice of pizza with the kids until a certain point in the evening.
There are several dance clubs downtown that have DJs. The Crystal Ball Room is a turn of the century bar room that has been renovated and restored and they offer a different kind of music practically every night of the week - everything from country to acoustics to jazz to rock to punk. There is some really good dining and a lot of theater, we have several theater groups. Portland Center Stage is one of the more established major companies as well as Artists Repertory Theater. We also have a symphony and an opera and the Broadway series comes every year.
