Part of what I do with my website is date coaching. I am pretty up to the minute on sites. For instance, there is one site in particular for Islamic people where you can put in your profile and photos, and if you want to respond to someone, you send them a "wink" to let them know you want them to checkout your profile and respond. It can be as involved as you want it to be. The younger people on the site tend to use it more as a social conversation than dating.
Men usually are more visually oriented, so there are more attractive women (by typical standards) getting responses than those who aren't as attractive. On a scale of 1 to 10, let's say you are a six. Even if you are at a mall or club, you are going to attract other sixes and will be attracted to other sixes. Even research shows that people tend to look a lot like each other. If you're a six on the internet, you're going to get responses from people who are six and below, because the people who are more serious about you are going to be at the same level. People who are a 10 and look like JFK are going to have a lot of responses, but the person he chooses is also going to be a 10. It's not discrimination; it is just the way nature works.
