No matter what the occasion for hiring a party rental company to help with your party or event, there will be some aspect of the affair that you'll want to someone or something to appear at center stage. Whether or not "center stage" equals an actual stage or simply an area designated for special events or emceeing, that stage will be a vital part of your party event. What kinds of options are available for staging through a party rental company? Is there more than one option for consideration by party hosts?

There are actually a few different options. Keith Krantz is the owner of Grand Central Party Rental,a party rental and supply company located in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to his foray into the party business, Krantz spent 23 years in international sales. He explains how party rental companies often work in conjunction with staging companies. Some party rental owners stock staging rentals from such companies. Others hire out from within their party rental contract, and subcontract with staging companies for the setting up of stages at specific events.

"There are a lot of different staging companies out there now," he says. "I know of some companies that actually use homemade, wooden staging."

This would be among the least expensive options for the party hosts. While it may require a bit more set-up time to assemble, the look of a wooden stage is always impressive.

"Some other really good companies have stages that are meant to be broken down and assembled at party sites," Krantz adds.

These stages are moderately priced and among the types that Krantz prefers. Assembly and breakdown is simple and can be done with minimal effort and training of employees. The stages aren't typically wooden, but have a professional flair to them. They are often seen in schools at band or choral performances and are used by many professional speakers and musicians.

"We tend to use the Wanger stages," Krantz says. "It's a very nice stage and it can be set up at a lot of different heights. Stairs and stage skirting can very easily be added to Wanger stages, and their prices aren't particularly expensive."

Krantz notes that the Wanger stages used by Grand Central Party Rental are reasonably priced at approximately $55 per 4x8 foot section of staging.

Staging is a prominent component in the party rental process. Party hosts must determine exactly how important and impressive the occurrences on the stage area will be and base their decision on the type and cost of staging from there. It is imperative that any staging used looks professional and is extremely safe. Staging accidents do occur, but are easily avoidable by hiring professionals with lots of experience at setting up staging. Regardless of the style chosen, do whatever can be done to decorate the staging area to look prominent and professional. That way no matter what event is taking place at that precise spot, the lights, camera and action will highlight the events at center stage.
