Outdoor activities of course include hiking and biking. We also have the Picas River which is referred to as Lake Carlsbad offering paddle boat rentals, boating, water skiing, and jet skiing. There is an old fashioned paddle wheeler that does tours. Bradley Lake State Park also offers boating as well as camping.
We have two golf courses, the Carlsbad Municipal Golf Course which sits along the river and The Riverside Country Club Golf Course. Both are 18-hole courses. They are quite popular during the winter because we get a lot of "snowbirds" down here and we have quite a large retirement community. We have a golfing package available during the winter that is offered in conjunction with the retirement council.
Biking is very popular. We have a lot of people who like to ride along the Picas River, but we also have a 5 mile paved biking and walking trail. Aside from bikes, we also have people who bring their 4-wheeler ATVs.
