If you want to experience the lake, Vacation Sports Rentals offers personal water crafts, boats, and pontoon boats. Skis, boards, and tubes are also available with a boat rental. Enjoy the dazzling North Idaho back country this winter in one of their one and two passenger snowmobiles. There is also a 3 hour guided sea kayaking tour on the lake for beginners and families. The tours are offered mornings, afternoons, and sunset. If you want to see the lake by air, you can take a ride on a sea plane flight that shows the beauty of North Idaho. We actually have a couple of white water rafting companies. A white water rafting experience is provided by River Odysseys West, Inc. They offer trips from 1 to 6 days for rafter ages 5 and up. One-day trips that are within two hours of Coeur d'Alene run from May to September. Visit www.rowinc.com for more information. We also have trout and salmon fishing on the lakes and rivers within the region.
We have a lot of parks offering an array of activities. There is the Bluegrass Park, Coeur d'Alene City Park, Farragut State Park, McEuen Field, Ramsey Park, Sunset Field and Winton Park. We have an extensive bicycling system. There are several different trails that will eventually be connected, and are very well maintained. There is a trail from Spokane to Coeur d'Alene that is about 35 miles. There is one from the east side of Coeur d'Alene that goes all the way into Montana, and there is the Route of the Hiawatha, which is a 13-mile historic rail trail. There are several world-class golf courses here as well. We have a significant amount of both Alpine and Nordic skiing. Alpine is downhill while Nordic is cross-country. Alpine skiing can be found in several different locations. Three are within about a 45-minute drive at Silver Mountain in the city of Kellogg, Schweitzer Mountain near the city of Sandpoint, and Lookout Mountain within the city of Wallace.
