People love to be in the outdoors in South Florida. We have great year around weather, so you can go island hopping in a boat a wave runner, go exploring, water skiing, parasailing, kite surfing, or windsurfing. We have a lot of rental vendors up and down the beach for things like wave runners. We also have public ramps if you want to bring your own boat. I imagine rental prices start at around $40 depending on the length of time and what activity you are doing.
Over the entire region we have 40 miles of marked trails. We even have mountain biking even though we are just above sea level and pretty flat. This is an area just east of Fort Myers that goes up to 12 feet high into the woods, so it's a bit of an adventure for those of us who are used to biking on flat terrain. In the city of Fort Myers there are some trails through the downtown area. There are walking trails for history that you can take as well.
We have three municipal golf courses here. Between the two counties in this area we have 166 golf courses. I am very serious. You can play here everyday for a long time. I would say probably about half are semi-private, and then we have a lot of private courses as well. Believe me, there is a course for every level of player here. In the winter months it can be difficult to get on the course. Get your tee-times early, because everybody here enjoys golf. In the summer it is pretty wide open.
