Outdoor Activities in Stuart, Florida. Outdoor Activities in Stuart, Florida include sailing, diving, fishing, shopping, camping, hiking, biking, and golfing near PGA headquarters. Most of our activities...

Most of our activities are centered on water activities like sailing, diving, fishing, beach-going, and that type of thing. We have no real 'tourist attractions' here. We have a really wonderful downtown area that's been totally renovated. It's very clean and loaded with different types of gift and art shops, restaurants, and jewelry shops.

We have an abundance of public parks. We don't have any tourist related park per se, but we have the Jonathan Dickinson State Park in the southern part of the county with camping sites, horse trails, nature trails, and canoeing. You could ride your bike 10 or 15 miles into that park with no problem. It's a very popular destination. We have the Halpatiokee Regional Park out by the interstate which is a huge sports complex with picnic areas, soccer, baseball, softball, skateboarding ramps, and that type of thing. Indian Riverside Park is a beautiful park right on the river. As a matter of fact, they are building a nature museum out there right now that will be geared toward children and have butterflies, birds, bees, and other natural habitats. Camping sites will get booked up over certain holidays and during the winter months because the temperature is wonderful for camping that time of the year. Out on Hutchison Island, there are some daily rental places for jet skis and boats up to 26 feet.

This is a mecca for golf. We have over 70 golf courses in our immediate area. Unfortunately, or fortunately however you want to look at it, only about 10 are public courses. Just about 10 miles north of us is PGA headquarters, which holds PGA Nationals and has three great golf courses plus a training facility.
