We have a wonderful parks and recreation department, which we call Leisure Services. We have several parks that offer various forms of recreation from court tennis to soccer to BMX trails to fishing and of course walking and hiking. We also have major recreational facilities for sports tournaments such as softball, baseball, swimming, tennis, and soccer.
Golf, tennis, and fishing are probably the biggest recreational sports here. We are also known as the amateur sports capital of the state and we are very active in hosting a lot of tournaments.
Golf is very popular. We have Highland Oaks, which is one of the Robert Trent Jones Trail sites. So we get a lot of players from all over North America coming here to play. According to Golf Digest it is the best value for golf and you can play year round, which is a big plus. It has 36 holes and it is open to the public. The greens are triple teared and all of the carts are equipped with GPS.
There are golf packages available with most of our hotels and you would just call the convention and visitors bureau here to obtain the information about those golf packages.
