We are part of the foothills of Pennsylvania, so we have quite a few hiking trails. Some nice trails can be found along the Brandywine River at Brandywine Creek State Park. There is nothing really challenging about them, but there is a good deal of gentle hiking. Canoeing and tubing on the Brandywine River are also popular. Wilderness Canoes, Cornutopia Tours, Delaware Express, and Brandywine Connoisseurs offer river rides and tours.

We have well over a dozen golf courses that are open to the public. The White Clay Creek Golf Club, Harte Feld National, Ed Oliver Golf Club, and Chestic Bay Golf Club are all scattered throughout this area. Some of the private courses include the DuPont Country Club, the Wilmington Country Club, and the Delaware National. You can play there if you have some kind of connection with a member or if you are holding a meeting in their conference center or something.

For people who are attracted to gardens, this is a great area. The Longwood and Winterthur have outstanding gardens. There is a new one called the Mount Cuba Center that's all about our native wildflowers. We have a bunch of smaller gardens like Goods Day and one up in Gibraltar. People come from all over, because they love this area.
