We are an outdoor oriented community. We have a lot of biking trails, golfing, hiking, boating, canoeing, camping, and birding. There is a community theater and a concert series as well. The majority of people who visit here like the small town feel with the clean air, low crime, and leisurely afternoons and evenings. We have around 100 RV Parks, 27 municipal parks, 2 state parks, 10 athletic complexes, and 13 golf courses. In the outlying area, we have the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge which is a wildlife refuge for bird watching and wildlife viewing. We are in migratory path, so birding is very popular here. You can also get sightings of big horned sheep. There is an abundance of hiking and camping available in Yuma, as well as a bike pass in the city. The Colorado River offers some of the best world class bass fishing. There are a number of organizations who hold tournaments here. For information on fishing venues and licenses, contact Imperial Land Management or the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. You can also contact our Visitor Information Center at 1-800-293-0071 or www.visityuma.com.
