We have almost 700 acres of parks. Mill Race Park was recognized by Landscape Management Magazine as one of the top 100 properties in the U.S. It has an observation tower, an ivy covered tunnel that's a lot of fun particularly for kids to go through. There are two ponds where you can go fishing. There is a covered bridge over the ponds. The park also has the typical things like lots of green space, playground equipment, basketball courts, and 19 miles of trails that go to various places all around town and out into the country.
For hiking, we have the Anderson Falls Park and the Brown County Park close by. Lincoln Park has an indoor ice skating rink that's open year around. There is a skateboarding park on the east side of the town that's very unusual with ramps and sets.
Irvine Gardens is open to public on weekends starting in the spring and ending when the weather gets cool. It has flowers, sculptures, a fountain, herbs, and a lot of good things to come investigate. There is a sculpture of an elephant that the kids tend to enjoy.
We have the Otter Creek Golf Course which was designed by Robert Trent Jones, and then in 1995 a nine-hole addition was designed by Reese Jones. It has been ranked as one of the top 25 courses by Golf Digest and ranked by other publications as a top course in the U.S. I haven't played it, but I hear it's challenging because the fairways are so narrow. We actually have a number of golf courses in the area. All are listed on our website.
