We have some wonderful parks. Two Rivers Park has been used for years. It sits right by the river, so kids enjoy jumping in and out of the water. It's not a raging river. Ruidoso actually means noisy in Spanish. We have another park that sits over by our soccer field. It was built as part of a community project, so it has some fun equipment like rope slings. The community just recently purchased a large section of land right in the middle of town that is being converted into a special events park area. We will eventually have a stage and gazebo. We have lots of softball tournaments, so our parks and recreation division is very active in town.

Hiking and biking trails are maintained by the National Forest Service. There is even a park where people can walk through the woods without having to get too far back into them. The White Mountain Wilderness is part of the Lincoln National Forest. There are no motorized vehicles allowed there, so we get a lot of folks who like to hike there. It's wonderfully maintained. Our mountain bikers like to go out to Fort Stanton Mesa and to the Upper Canyon area. There is a place in town called High Altitude that rents bikes. Accomplished mountain bikers bring their own gear, but they can get anything they need from that store.
