Overview
PayPal is one of the most widely used banking and merchant services on the Internet, and offers several benefits for those who initiate transactions on a regular basis online. eBay and other shopping sites often use PayPal as a primary payment method, and some merchants even offer faster processing with PayPal payments. If you want to set up your own PayPal account, here's what you need to do.

Step 1
Visit the registration page at PayPal.com. You can use the registration link or select "Sign Up" at the top of the screen on the PayPal home page. -

Choose your country and language. Use the first drop-down menu to select your country or region. Use the second drop-down menu to select your language. -
Step 3
Select your account. If you want to set up a basic account, select "Personal" on the main menu. If you frequently buy or sell products and services online, you will need to select the "Premier" account. If you are a business and want to set up a merchant account, select the "Business" account to create a PayPal ID under a company or group name. -
Step 4
Fill in your personal information. You will need to fill in all fields accurately to set up your account; information may include the email address that will serve as your primary contact with PayPal and also your PayPal ID; a password; your full name; your address; and your phone number. -
Step 5
Click on the "User Agreement" and "Privacy Policy" links to review all of the details about your relationship with PayPal. `This information will list disclosures and general business practices. -
Step 6
Complete the registration process. Select "Agree and Create Account" only after you have reviewed all of your information for accuracy, and agree with the terms of service.

- Tip: If you're a buyer or seller, you can upgrade to a PayPal Premier Account; this type of account allows you to accept credit-card, debit-card and bank payments at lower fees than the standard account

- Warning:
- Keep your PayPal ID and password in a safe and secure place; do not share this information with anyone.
- If you are not using a personal computer to set up your account, make sure the URL of every page you visit begins with "https://"; this indicates that the information being transmitted is secure. If there is no "s" after the "http," you may be entering your personal information on a phishing site and putting your privacy at risk.
