If you can see that the pearls chip easily, they are not real. Most of the time you have to ask the vendor or whoever you're buying it from if it is a sea cultured pearl or if it's cultured in a lab. So, the ones that are cultured in the lab are the ones that have just a plastic ball on the inside of the "pearl" shell. So, the one's that are sea cultured are naturally cultured, those are the ones that have the variant of colors from the rose tint to the white tint or the cream tint. They are naturally made. An oyster is planted with one grain of sand and its goes through the natural process of being made into a pearl.
