Ryan enjoys deconstucting the world around him through his lens. He has always been a fan of motion pictures and story-telling through film, but still photography is the real challenge because you have one static moment to tell the story.

A famous photojournalist said that the trick to getting good images is to set your camera to F8 and “be there.” Ryan feels like he has only “been there” a few times in his life, but the joy of getting back to the dark room (or laptop as the case may be) and finding an image that was a surprise to him is rewarding. He finds it refreshing and frustrating that even in today’s paradigm of digital immediacy, it is still impossible to write a formula for the images that move us.
