  • By chance lightning split the sky in the (not nearly far enough) distance, while I was inspecting and photographing a felled tree during a freak Texas storm. Perhaps next time I'll wait for the storm to fully pass before venturing outside.

  • The garden of a home in Trecwn, Wales. The cottage was originally the home for the man who looked after the fox hounds. It was built about 400 years ago as part of a large estate.
  • Most visitors would agree that sunset in Hawaii is about as close to heaven on earth that one can visit. This particular sunset was at the famous North Shore on the island of Oahu during the summer when the waves are at their mildest.

I like to capture those unscripted interactions between a subject and their environment. My background is in photojournalism and independent filmmaking, and one thing that I have learned that has always stuck with me is that I think that people are far more similar to each other than we'd like to believe. This is especially evident to me whenever I am focusing on the things people do when “no one is looking.” I like working in chaotic, high energy moments. And sure, that may mean that my lighting isn't always ideal, but when the moment is there I'd rather be capturing images than fretting over my key: fill ratio. That's what post is for.
