Newport in Southern California has more serious stuff, including a number of patterns that only those with advanced skills can negotiate. Time is well spent on this beach by people who have surfed all over the world and who have the confidence to enjoy twists and turns, with plenty of room to display their advanced abilities. There is considerable variety amongst the wave patterns and one can enjoy recognizing and remembering their locations along the sea front.

San Clemente is a considered choice to round off a vacation by a serious surfer. The waves are amongst the highest here and there are a number of spots to savor and enjoy. The deep blue water and delectable climate add the most memorable touches of California and the gentle breeze stays with you as you long to return to these wonderful expanses of sand and water again.
