Garden stakes add nice touches of art to any garden. Our gardening expert, Carlton Young, Assistant Manager of the Greenhouse and Gardens Division of Craven Pottery, says gardening stakes are always popular with gardeners.

"Butterflies and humming birds have been probably the two most popular varieties.
These sell for ninety-nine cents to a dollar and twenty nine cents," Young says.

Before purchasing any gardening stakes, Young says it's important to know the theme of your garden. Once you have that picked out, you can properly accessorize your garden with unique garden stakes.

Local home improvement stores or online companies have a variety of garden stakes to choose from. Flamingos, turtles, elephants, birds, angelic figures, or stone slabs are just a few of the choices.

According to www.tracker-outdoors.com, garden stakes with tags add a unique and different look. The tags dangle from the stake and usually have messages, poems, or symbols on them. You can also buy garden poem signs to disperse among your plants or near your garden pond. Metal garden stakes also come with labels. The nice aspect of this type of garden stake is that you can interchange special messages on them. Many shops can also personalize your garden stake. If you know an avid gardener, you can make up a special poem or message and give it as a gift.

An important factor you may want to stay aware of is that you need to know the size of the stake that will look most appealing in your garden. Young says garden stores typically sell them in standard sizes.

"They range in size from about twelve inches tall to about twenty-four inches tall," Young says.

Once you buy the size of garden stake that best fits your garden, then you can start decorating. You can always move or change them, when the holiday season comes around.

Garden stakes can range in prices from one dollar to several hundred. It all depends on the look you are going for and how much you are willing to spend. The better quality stake you buy, the more money it will cost you.

Whatever garden stake you decide to purchase, a good idea is to shop around. Look at all the varieties for sell at different stores. This will give you a better idea of what you want. This will allow for you to create special themes in your garden, as well. If you are still having problems trying to decide what you want, then sit on your ideas for a few days. You can also talk to sales representatives, and they can help direct you as well. Eventually, the ideas you like the most will come to the surface. A beautiful garden takes time and patience and in the end, it should have special meaning to you.
