Gone are the days where only those considered as beautiful models had single digit dress sizes. Some of the most popular international models are plus size women who have turned their back on the notion that you can only be beautiful if you are thin.

Mia Tyler

Born in New Hampshire on December 22, 1978, Mia Tyler is the daughter of the lead singer of Aerosmith, Steven Tyler, and actress Cyrinda Foxe. With a sister who is a Hollywood actress, Liv Tyler, Mia has also had her fair share of success. She has done some plus size modeling, appeared on television, and was even a cast member of the reality show, Celebrity Fit Club. In 2002 she married Dave Buckner, a drummer for the rock band Papa Roach and also plans to pursue a singing career of her own.

Toccara Jones

Many people got to see a glimpse of the beautiful Toccara from the third season of the reality television show, America's Next Top Model, produced by supermodel Tyra Banks. This college student turned model was the sole plus size model on the show. Toccara stood out not only for her beauty, but also for her vibrant and positive personality she portrayed when she faced challenges.

This up and coming model is a New Jersey native who idolizes Sharon Quinn, also a plus size model. With her sudden fame she has made numerous guest appearances and hopes to one day the first famous African-American plus size supermodel.

Barbara Brickner

Being one of the world's most famous plus size models, Barbara Brickner has worked in the industry for over ten years and was signed to the infamous Wilhelmina Agency in New York. In Washington, Barbara was discovered by Bill Heffner and shortly signed with his agency in Seattle. She received her degree in communications from Washington State University and tours around the United States speaking to students about the importance of having a healthy body image. She has sported the cover of many fashion magazines as well as been the face for stores, such as Talbot's and Torrid, and hopes to add the title of being a famous singer to her resume.


Having been selected twice by People Magazine as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People", Emme is a women of bountiful success, not only as a supermodel but in any avenue she peruses. As a mother and lecturer, she has also become a best selling author for her first book, True Beauty. Emme saw how fashion for plus size women were limited to few designs so she became the creative director of her own clothing line. Appropriately names after her, the Emme clothing line is exclusively designing women within the size range of 12-24.

Emme's beauty and achievements have lead her to many accolades such as being named one of the "Most Important Women in America" and one of the "Most Fascinating Women of the Year" by Ladies Home Journal. As an advocate for fit and healthy women, Emme strives to battle eating disorders and negative body image that come with the images of unattainable beauty placed on women in society.

Many fans have felt that plus size models represent real women since women naturally have curves. These women define beauty on their own terms both inside and out showing the world that all types of women of all sizes, whether single digit or double digit, can be beautiful.
