We have about 16,000 in the city. In the entire county, we have about 35,000. We have a university here and there are about 10,000 students at the university. We have a lot of young people because of that. We have a lot of families because it's a good place to raise children and it's a rural community. A lot of people that were raised here stay here. We have a lot of retirees because we were designated as a retirement community about 18 years ago. We are next to the lake too; a lot of people come here after they retire because they want to live on the lake. We have a variety of all ages here. Our county has been recognized as one of the top one hundred communities in the United States that are "America's promised community." You can come to the commerce center on highway 641 north or 8O5 North Twelfth Street to get a map of the city.
