What Is Pregnancy Yoga?

What is pregnancy yoga? Yoga during pregnancy is good for the uterus and maternal health because it aids in digestion, breathing, and circulation, and it aids in breastfeeding and recovery after delivery.

There is actually no such thing as 'pregnancy yoga,' but you can do yoga when you are pregnant. This is one of the fields that I have delved into for many, many years. In fact, I was in India while pregnant with my last child, so yoga and pregnancy has been my field for years. I have three children, my eldest being 19, and I have practiced yoga even before she was born. Pregnancy is a very special time for women, and maternal health can be maintained and improved through yoga. Just being pregnant is demanding, so we want to help the women to stabilize the physical and mental state. Hormones throw everything off, so the postures help to strengthen the pelvic muscle, expand the pelvic region to create space inside the uterus for proper blood circulation and adequate room for the movement of the fetus, and because the postures also exercise the spine and aid in digestion, breathing, and circulation, they help the women to be more comfortable. They also help to ease morning sickness and to alleviate swelling and varicose veins. The uterus functions more efficiently because it is helped, too. You help to make the uterus strong, so that the delivery has a better chance of being normal.

After the baby is born, it also helps with lactation by providing the important gland stimulation for the production of milk. Of course after delivery, it helps the mother to get back into shape, which is very important when you have to pick up a child endlessly. The breasts are heavier, and you are always reaching forward to diaper and feed. It helps the muscles to get back into shape, but it also helps to calm the mind. There will be a lot of sleepless nights and anxiety over the child's health.
