Finally, if you really get stuck on something, I wouldn't hesitate to call a local electrical contractor, and you can ask him some questions over the phone. If it is a fairly substantial project, you might ask him to actually come out and give you a quote on it. You can discuss the project with him. Then, if it appeared simpler than you thought, you can just go ahead and do it yourself.
