Nylon has, generally speaking, greater standup strength than the other fibers. The new nylons, which are the soft touch nylon, they have made it feel more like polyester. This is another chemical breakthrough. They have given it a softer hand. It feels softer. The old time nylons were tough, but they had kind of a stiff feel to them. Polyester has a naturally soft hand. It feels nicely on your hand when you rub across it. If you are talking about a high traffic area, you need to get something that has got some nylon in it. The carpet needs to be tightly woven. You need something that is going to wear well. Remember- tall does not necessarily mean it is good. Also, thick does not necessarily mean good.

All of the carpet will have natural stain resistants due to a lot of different factors. Nylon has its heat protection put in at a 170 degrees. Now, if you spill scalding hot coffee or tea or something like that on nylon, it is going to take it back out. Nylon does have another drawback. Acid-type foods are more inclined to stain it. Mustard, ketchup, coffee, and anything with vinegar will stain Nylon. All carpets have different physical properties.
