The government's SADMRC website (Statistical Analysis Durable Medical Regional Carrier) analyses footwear and verifies that it meets the government standard for the diabetic or therapeutic shoebill. There are currently about 485 styles from 35-40 manufacturers that have received a code verification letter stating that their footwear meets the standards required for diabetic footwear. Drew Shoe has about 90 styles out of that. We carry almost 20% of all styles that the government has coded as being proper for diabetic use. To get these shoes, you must get a prescription or a certificate of medical necessity from your primary care physician. A certificate of medical necessity means that you have certain diabetic symptoms, and that you might also have peripheral neuropathy, foot deformities, or ulcerations. You'll be referred to another doctor like a podiatrist who will write a prescription for diabetic footwear and inserts.
