What questions should I ask a salesperson when purchasing a home theater system? When considering a home theater system, you may want to ask questions about different televisions and surround sound speaker systems.
There are some things a consumer should ask. First of all, when they walk in they have to know what they want. Before they even go into a store they should do some research. They should find out about the different types of plasma television screens. They should know whether they want to go back and get a projection screen or plasma screen or just a regular television set. They should know the different types of speakers that are out there. They should also know how many wires they need depending on measurements of the room and where they want to place the speakers.
Sometimes people don't really look at the unit, they just look at the price and say "well, this is within my price range and I will buy that." Some of the questions they should ask are things like "how long will the plasma screen last? How many hours of viewing time do I have?" As far as the audio and the surround sound, they should ask things about the wattage. "How much output is it putting out?" Sometimes people don't understand the wattage and how much power they actually need. Some people listen to the classical music at 500 watts amp, while someone who would listen to hip-hop or dance music would want to pump it up, but they have a 100 watts amp. They can't do that because it will blow the system out.
