How to Refill Epson C82 Ink Cartridges

By Catherine Johnson

  • Overview

If you are a heavy user of your Epson C82, you know that maintaining the printer is a costly process. Replacing your ink cartridges every time they run empty is an inconvenient and costly task that can quickly add up to more than the price of the printer itself. An affordable option is to purchase bulk printer ink and refill your cartridges on demand. Not only does this save you time and money, but extending the life of your cartridges helps to reduce environmental waste as well.
Refilling your Epson C82 ink cartridges is convenient and economical.
    • Step 1

Consult your Epson user's manual and follow the instructions for removing an ink cartridge from your printer. Once you have removed the cartridge, place it on the paper towels.
    • Step 2

Follow the instructions for your Epson chip resetter and reset your ink cartridge.

    • Step 3

Find the top of the cartridge, which has a label bearing a bull's-eye and the word "Push." Heat an unbent paper clip in a flame and melt a hole in the cartridge directly above the letter "S" in the word "Push." The hole should be slightly larger than the syringe needle and should penetrate through two layers of plastic.
    • Step 4

Place the cartridge back into its holder inside the printer to make it easier to refill.
    • Step 5

Fill the syringe with the appropriate amount of ink. If you are refilling a black cartridge, take 25ml of black ink. For a color cartridge, fill the syringe with 12ml of colored ink.
    • Step 6

Insert the syringe needle approximately 1/4 inch into the hole you created. Slowly inject the ink into the cartridge, watching for any air bubbles or overflow. Immediately wipe away any ink that dribbles out of the top. You may need to inject the ink a little at a time and gently rock the cartridge to ensure the ink is absorbed.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Ingredients:
    • ACSI bulk printer inks: Black (WJ-190); Cyan (WJ-2025); Magenta (WJ-693); or Yellow (WJ-762)
    • Paper towels
    • Paper clip
    • Epson chip resetter
    • Syringe
    • Tip: If your printer does not recognize your refilled cartridge, you may need to reset it one more time.
    • Tip: Never leave your Epson printer without an installed cartridge for more than an hour. The ink will begin to thicken into a gel and you will need to run the cleaning program multiple times to unclog it.
