How to Refill Epson R260 Ink Cartridges

By Catherine Johnson

  • Overview

Although the Epson R260 printer can produce stunning high-resolution photos and rich graphic media, maintaining it can be expensive and inconvenient. The cost of purchasing new ink cartridges every time they run empty can quickly add up. By using bulk printer inks, you can refill your Epson cartridges on demand. This saves you both time and money and also helps the environment by reducing plastic waste. Here is how you can refill your Epson R260 ink cartridges in a few steps.
Conveniently refill your Epson R260 ink cartridges
    • Step 1

Follow the instructions in your user manual on how to remove an ink cartridge from your Epson printer. Once you have removed the cartridge, set it on the paper towels.
    • Step 2

Turn the cartridge so that the spine with the Epson sticker label is facing upwards. Using the eyelet screw that came with your refil kit (see Resources below), carefully create a small refill hole near the top of the cartridge spine. The hole should be between the edge of the cartridge and the bull's eye circle on the sticker label. Make sure the screw stays centered as you produce the hole.

    • Step 3

Attach the needle to the syringe and then fill the syringe with 12 ml of ink. Insert the syringe needle into the refill hole you created. Inject the ink very slowly into the hole, just until the cartridge is almost, but not quite, full. Remove the syringe from the hole and gently wipe the area around the refill hole clean.
    • Step 4

Push the silicon plug into the refill hole. If your plug is large, you may need to make the refill hole slightly wider. Once inserted, the plug should create an airtight seal.
    • Step 5

If you need to refill more than one ink cartridge, repeat the refilling process using a new syringe with each ink color.
    • Step 6

Follow the instructions provided with your Epson cartridge resetter to reset your newly refilled cartridge. Insert the cartridge back into your Epson printer.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Ingredients:
    • Bulk refill ink
    • Injector kit
    • Epson cartridge resetter
    • Paper towels
    • Tip: Refill your cartridges as soon as the ink level becomes low. If you wait too long, you may not be able to reuse your cartridge.
    • Tip: If your printer does not recognize your refilled cartridge, you may have to remove the cartridge from the printer and reset it again.
