How to Refill Epson T0442 Ink Cartridges

By Catherine Johnson

  • Overview

Frequently replacing your Epson printer-ink cartridges is an inconvenient and expensive process. Instead of purchasing a new cartridge every time you run out of ink, it is far more affordable to simply purchase one of the widely available printer-refill kits. These kits provide you with all of the necessary tools and offer a convenient way of refilling your cartridges on demand. Here are the steps as they pertain to the Epson T0442.
Use a printer ink kit to refill your Epson printer cartridges.
    • Step 1

Consult your printer's user manual on how to remove your ink cartridge from your Epson printer. Once your remove the cartridge, place it on the paper towels.
    • Step 2

Turn your cartridge so that its spine--with the Epson sticker identifying its color--faces upward.

    • Step 3

Using the eyelet screw in the refill kit, create a small refill hole on the cartridge spine, near the top. The hole should be located above the circular dot on the sticker. Make sure the screw is centered as you are drilling the hole.
    • Step 4

Attach the needle to the syringe. Fill the syringe with 12ml of ink.
    • Step 5

Slowly inject the ink into the refill hole you created, until the cartridge is almost full. Remove the syringe. Using some paper towels, wipe the area around the refill hole clean.
    • Step 6

Insert the silicon sealing plug into the refill hole. Depending on the size of your plug, you may need to make the hole slightly larger. The plug should create an airtight seal.
    • Step 7

Repeat the refilling steps for the other ink cartridges, using a new syringe with each color.
    • Step 8

Follow the instructions in your refill kit on how to reset your Epson cartridges. Insert the cartridges back into your Epson printer.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Ingredients:
    • Epson T0442 Ink Refill Kit
    • Paper towels
    • Tip: Refill your cartridges as soon as the ink levels become low. Do not wait for the cartridges to become empty. If you wait too long, you may not be able to print with your cartridges, even after you refill them.
