How to Register a Business Name in Arkansas

By Erica Sweeney

  • Overview

In Arkansas, sole proprietorships and partnerships must register their business names by applying for a DBA (Doing Business As) certificate. This relatively straightforward process should be done at your local county courthouse or at the secretary of state's office. Once you've decided on a name for your business, follow these steps to register it.
    • Step 1

Fill out the DBA application. You can obtain this form at the secretary of state's office or at your local county clerk's office. Be sure to read the form carefully and provide all required information.
    • Step 2

Write a check. This is a one-time fee for registering a business name. In Pulaski County, the fee is $25 but it may vary depending on the county where you live.

    • Step 3

Submit the application to the county clerk's office. This may be done in person, or the form can be mailed in.
    • Skill: Easy
