Step 1
Verify the business name. Visit the New Hampshire Secretary of State official website and run a business name availability check (see Resources). If the business name is already registered, select a new name and perform a new search.

Assign a business category to the business. Will the business operate as a corporation, limited liability company, partnership, or non-profit entity? Select a category and then move on. The business must operate or be headquartered from New Hampshire.

Locate the appropriate forms. Log on to the New Hampshire Secretary of State website and click on the " Register a Business Name" tab. Scroll to the left-hand side of the screen and select the, "Forms and Laws" tab. Scroll to the right hand side and select "Corporations," "Limited Liability Companies." "Limited Liability Partnerships," or "Non Profits." You will be directed to a page that asks, "Would you like Domestic or Foreign Corporation forms?"

Step 4
Complete and submit the online form. Select the "Domestic" tab to access the form for a domestic application (see Resources). Provide the business name, business address, business telephone number and name of owners. Print, sign and date the form. Retain a copy for your records. The application must have a New Hampshire address.

Mail the form. Enclose the form with a check or money order to cover the appropriate application fee. All pricing and contact information is listed on each form and should be addressed to that department. All payment should be made payable to: State of New Hampshire.
