It depends on the science or medical doctor who you ask. Some doctors do believe it works and have seen a big difference in their patients. Let's say a patient came in with a tumor and the patient after a few weeks started seeing a Reiki practitioner and the size of the tumor started shrinking. This is something where a doctor can't deny. But a lot of times when a patient says they have been going to a Reiki therapist the doctor will tend to say that it must be something else. The doctor will ignore the evidence that is right in front of them because they don't believe in that. Part of that is normal because if they admit they believe in alternative methods they are admitting that their methods aren't as effective as it could be. A lot of times doctors aren't willing to branch out and look at other forms of alternative therapies. But a lot are. But there are some hospitals in the United States that have Reiki practitioners on staff because they have seen that it works. As far as scientists go, you have to find a scientist who doesn't take the words universal life energy and say that it is a hoax and is not going to research it. You have to find one that says it is an interesting topic and wants to find out more about it. Unfortunately there is a shortage of scientists who are willing to investigate whether it exists and what it is or where it comes from. There are some scientists who have worked on that and who have gone as far as to say yes, this Reiki, this universal life energy does exist. That is about as far as they have gotten. As far as determining where is this coming from exactly how it fits in to healing? No one has really gotten that far.
