Relaxing In Your Above Ground Spa

The above ground spa is a miniature version of the Roman bath, and a soak is, even to this day, a great way to relax.

For thousands of years, people have known the soothing powers of a hot bath. The ancient Romans built an entire culture around a soak in the spa. Even they knew this could brighten the worst day. Today the above ground spa is a miniature version of the Roman bath, and a soak is still a great way to relax and wash off the stress of the day.

The above ground hot tub relies on the circulation of water through the jets to aid in relaxation. The jets help move the water around the tub, and provide filtration. Many tubs come equipped with anywhere from four to forty or more jets. Many of these are specialized so that each jet or group of jets is responsible for a certain area of your body. For instance, there may be two or four jets that are dedicated to relaxing the muscles in your neck. There may be several jets in the seats or the foot well that are tasked with relaxing your feet and/or legs, and there are still others that are pointed at your back and torso. These may be adjusted to suit your tastes, they may send a hard steam of water directly at one spot, or they may be toned down to be less intense. The action of the jets, when you are not right in front of them creates a nice relaxing circulation of water around you.

The blower is another nice feature to help you relax. This literally blows bubbles through tiny holes in the seat and foot well. On a high level it feels as though you are in a boiling pot; at the lowest level, a glass of soda pop and there is everything in between.

Though individual preferences vary, the perfect temperature for ultimate relaxation should be between 98 and 102 degrees. This can vary depending upon the outside temperature. If the temperature outside is cooler, then the tub may be cooler to achieve the desired results.

Start by sliding down into the warm water, unlike a swimming pool, you don't jump in, take is nice and easy. Then clear your mind and enjoy the moment. Some wine or a margarita in a plastic glass is a nice touch. Lean back, close your eyes, and think about the bubbles, the stars, or just nothing. The hot tub is most enjoyable in the company of at least one other person. Someone else can be a sounding board for concerns. Talking with them can help to clear up many issues and the warmth of the spa allows ideas to flow. Communication seems to come easier in the hot tub, the ancient Romans used to seal business deals in their baths; such is still the case with the above ground spa.

The warm water, the steam, and the motion of the jets all produce the perfect environment for relaxation. Experiment with different temperatures and jet configurations; try out the fragrances and/or bubble bath products that are designed for the hot tub. These can provide a delightful change.

Just slide into a warm tub and melt your cares away.
