    • Step 1

Reach under the sink and turn off the water supply lines that go to the hot and cold water. They will be two handles coming out of the wall near the floor of the cupboard.
    • Step 2

Turn on both the hot and cold water taps of the faucet to allow any remaining water to drain from the lines. This will relieve the pressure from the lines.

    • Step 3

Back under the sink, disconnect the water lines near the top, where they attach to the faucet. You will be able to loosen these with a pair of pliers; if they're corroded, you'll need to spray them with penetrating oil and wait 10 minutes for the oil to work before unscrewing the lines.
    • Step 4

Crawl under the sink with your flashlight, lie on your back and take a good look at the operation at hand. Look up at the bottom of the faucet; you'll see two posts coming down where the water lines were connected. Above the water line connection is a nut, which you will remove on each side using the wrench.
    • Step 5

Wiggle the faucet from left to right using a gentle motion to break the seal from the surface of the sink, and lift your old bathroom sink faucet straight up.
    • Skill: Moderate
    • Ingredients:
    • Flashlight
    • Pliers
    • Small pipe wrench
    • Penetrating oil
    • Tip: The water lines may drip slightly after the supply line is shut off. If this occurs, place a rag or towel around the base to absorb the water while you work.
    • Tip: If your old faucet has left a mark on the top of your sink, wet a paper towel with white vinegar and lay it over the area. Let it soak for half an hour, then scrub the area gently with a scouring pad.
