Step 1
Turn on your printer. This will center the ink cartridge in the middle of the carriage return, where it's easy to access.

Open the front cover of the printer. Look at the ink cartridge on the transport rail. There's a lever right next to the cartridge. Press down on this: it will release the catch holding the ink cartridge. Simply pull out the old cartridge. Set the cartridge aside to be recycled.---most manufacturers supply a free mailer to return spent cartridges. If the package of the new cartridge didn't include a mailer, most office supply stores will take old cartridges for recycling.

Step 3
Remove the tape and sticker on the new ink cartridge, then insert the cartridge into the transport, in the same location the old one occupied. Snap down the cover that holds the ink cartridge in place. Press until you hear a definite "snap." Close the front cover and you've replaced the cartridge.
