Baltimore has a great selection of restaurants, from American to Italian, from Indian to Japanese and Chinese.
Baltimore has an array of excellent restaurants. From American cuisine to authentic Indian food, when in Baltimore, you'll be able to satisfy any craving you have. Here are some of the top restaurants to choose from:
AMERICAN Cuisine
Alexandra's at Turf Valley Resort is Baltimore's place to go for a fine dining American cuisine experience. This elegant establishment features breathtakingly high ceilings and an exquisitely lovely view of the beautiful greenery surrounding this spacious resort. This establishment serves both lunch and dinner, and the required dress is business casual. Despite their swanky atmosphere and mouth-watering delicacies, the prices are quite moderate - most entrees are less than thirty dollars. Also within the Turf Valley Resort is another fabulous restaurant called Terrace on the Green. As you may have inferred from its name, this restaurant overlooks the resort's lush, green golf course. Terrace on the Green is more causal than Alexandra's, with more of a clubhouse setting, and they regularly feature live musical entertainment in the evening.
CHINESE Cuisine
If you are looking for Chinese or Japanese cuisine in the Baltimore area, look no further than Zen Café on East Belvedere Avenue. Not only do they have an extensive dinner and lunch menu with all of the classic (Americanized) Chinese and Japanese dishes, but they also have a very extensive vegetarian meal selection. The portions sizes are very generous, and at the end of your meal, you will be offered a lime sherbet shot to cleanse your palette for dessert. They have won the "Baltimore's Best Chinese Restaurant" honor several times.
FRENCH Cuisine
If French food is what you are seeking, you should head over to the Brass Elephant. This restaurant is beautiful and romantic - the architecture is like nothing you have ever seen before, truly exquisite wood carvings and detailing. The Brass Elephant has won the prestigious DiRoNA Award and the Wine Spectator Award (so expect an extensive wine list). Most entrees are less than thirty dollars, but the food is fit for a king. This is the perfect restaurant for a romantic date or anniversary dinner. Another extravagant French restaurant is Petit Louis Bistro on Roland Avenue, right in the heart of Baltimore. This restaurant is far more casual and relaxed than the Brass Elephant, but they have a very friendly, lively atmosphere and a wide selection of French bistro fare.
INDIAN Cuisine
Hands down, the best place for Indian food in Baltimore is Akbar Restaurant on North Charles Street. They have been in business for over sixteen years, and once you try out their entrees, you'll immediately know why they are such a successful eatery. This family-run business serves authentic Indian drinks, appetizers, lunches, and dinners. They even have some vegetarian options available. Also, they have a wide selection of Indian breads to enjoy before and during your meal.
ITALIAN Cuisine
Italian food is the most popular style of cuisine in the United States - even more popular than American cuisine, believe it or not! The foremost Italian eatery in Baltimore is Aldo's Ristorante Italiano on South High Street. This is fine Italian dining at its absolute best. The owner, world-renowned chef Aldo Vitale, has created a menu of savory classic Italian dishes along with some specialties that are all his own. The prices are somewhat high, but worth every penny, and maybe even more!
