This area features seafood, but of course there is plenty of good beef and chicken as well. Harry's Savoy Grill and Harry's Seafood Grill are both run by the same owner who, by the way, is the guy who started Commander's Palace in New Orleans and was the former Chairman of the National Restaurant Association two years ago. That gives you a little idea of the quality of his food. Other great places include the Green Room in the Hotel du Pont, the 821 Market Street Bistro, the Deep Blue Bar and Grill, Toscana Kitchen and Bar, Krazy Kat's, and Pastabilities. Those are just some of the top ones. There are plenty more. That's not bad for little state with only 800,000 people. We also have the typical Burger King and McDonald's chains.
We are a part of the great restaurant revival that Philly is famous for. Also, there is no sales tax on shopping, dining, or entertainment in Delaware, so you can go to a nice restaurant and have a $200 meal. The sales tax in New York is now up to 12%!
We're also the home of the University of Delaware which has over 14,000 students, so you can imagine that area has a lot of bars. The most well known is the Deer Park Haven. Another good restaurant and bar is called The National. I think most of our restaurants have bars, but a popular hangout for young people would be the Kahuna Ville and the Red Room. There is also a food bar called Volare. There is no lack of bars here, and they are always packed.
